Respite

Short-Term Stays for Peace of Mind

At StoneBridge, we care for caregivers, too. Respite Care offers temporary assistance for loved ones when a family caregiver is traveling, attending to personal responsibilities or simply needs some time to rest and restore.

Guests can stay for up to 30 days and receive the same thoughtful attention, 24-hour support, meals, activities and personalized care our residents enjoy every day. It’s also a helpful option for families considering assisted living and wanting to experience the StoneBridge community firsthand.

Why Try Respite Care?

If you’re new to the idea of respite care, we encourage you to consider its many upsides. Assisted Living is a wonderful benefit for both seniors and their families, taking worry and stress off the table so that everyone can enjoy their time together.

Travel Peace of Mind

When caregivers travel, finding care for a loved one can be a worrisome task. Here, we surround your senior with professional services and daily care, along with plenty of fun and friendship, for up to 30 days.

Social Interaction

As your loved one ages, their personal life may not be what it once was.. Here they can enjoy socializing with their peers and participating in fun activities in a safe and comforting environment.

Caregiver Mental Health

We believe you’re at your best when you’re able to take care of yourself, too. A much-needed break, even one day a month, can help caregivers feel stronger and more clear-headed.

Gentle Test Drive

Respite care can serve as a try-before-you-buy experience to soften the transition to assisted living and make the decision less scary. Many of our guests return home excited for what their new life will look like.

Getting Started

There are general guidelines that are good to follow for anyone interested in respite care. Whether you choose StoneBridge or want to try a few communities, the below will help you move forward with confidence.

1

Assess Your Needs

  • Identify when you most need breaks (daily, weekly, extended periods)
  • Determine what type
of care your loved one requires
  • Consider your budget
and funding options

2

Research Options

  • Contact your Area Agency on Aging: 1-800-677-1116 (Eldercare Locator)
  • Search the ARCH National Respite Network
  • Ask healthcare providers for recommendations
  • Connect with local caregiver support groups

3

Screen Providers

Essential questions to ask:

  • Are caregivers licensed, bonded, and insured?
  • What training and background checks
are required?
  • How are emergencies handled?
  • What services are
included in the base rate?
  • Are there minimum
hour requirements?
  • What is the cancellation policy?

4

Start Gradually

  • Begin with short periods (2-4 hours) to build
comfort
  • Prepare detailed care instructions and emergency contacts
  • Introduce the respite provider when you’re present initially
  • Gradually increase
duration as everyone adjusts

5

Create a Care Plan

Document information:

  • Medical conditions
and medications
  • Daily routines and preferences
  • Dietary restrictions
and meal schedules
  • Emergency contacts
and procedures
  • Behavioral triggers
and calming strategies
  • Activities your loved
one enjoys
